1. Who we are
Signal Savvy Investor (“SSI”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at signalsavvyinvestor.com and the Signal Savvy Investor analytics platform.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at support@signalsavvyinvestor.com.
Because we are based in Singapore and provide services to users in Australia, we handle personal information in line with both the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Our website address is: https://signalsavvyinvestor.com.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to personal information we collect through:
- pilot program calls and surveys
- the SSI marketing website, including the contact form, the newsletter registration form and the pilot tester application form
- the SSI analytics platform (the web application you log into)
- email and other correspondence with us
3. What we collect
Information you give us directly
Contact form. Your name, email address and the content of your message.
Pilot tester application. Your name and email address, plus your answers about how you invest: whether you trade individual ASX shares, approximately how many holdings you have, what research tools you currently use, whether you manage or advise on a self-managed superannuation fund, how often you review your holdings, and whether you can commit to the program’s feedback sessions. Any free-text comments you choose to add.
Platform account. Your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in a readable form.
Content you create on the platform. Screens, filters, watchlists, saved comparisons and preferences.
Pilot feedback. Notes from feedback calls, survey responses, bug reports and feature suggestions.
Information we collect automatically
When you visit the website or use the platform we collect technical and usage information: IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, referring page, pages viewed, features used, timestamps, and approximate location derived from IP address (country and region level, not precise location).
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies for essential functions (keeping you logged in, remembering form progress, security) and for analytics. See section 11.
4. What we do not collect
We do not host comments on the website and do not collect comment data.
We do not accept media or file uploads from users.
We do not collect payment card details. The platform is free during the pilot program. If and when we introduce paid subscriptions, payments will be handled by a third-party payment processor and card details will go directly to them, never to us.
We do not connect to your brokerage account and do not collect brokerage credentials, account numbers or trade history.
We do not collect your actual portfolio holdings, position sizes or account balances. Watchlists you create in the platform are lists of securities you are interested in — we do not know whether or in what quantity you own them.
We do not collect Tax File Numbers, superannuation account numbers or government identifiers.
We do not collect sensitive information as defined under the Privacy Act (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or criminal record). Please don’t send us any.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not trade in personal information.
5. Why we collect it
| Purpose | Information used |
|---|---|
| Assessing pilot tester applications and selecting participants | Application form answers |
| Running the pilot program — scheduling calls, sending surveys, collecting feedback | Name, email, feedback |
| Creating and securing your account | Email address, a securely hashed password, technical data. |
| Providing the analytics platform and saving your work | Account and content data |
| Responding to your enquiries | Contact form data |
| Sending the newsletter and product updates, where you have consented | Name, email |
| Understanding how the platform is used so we can improve it | Usage and technical data |
| Detecting and preventing spam, abuse and security incidents | Technical data, form submissions |
| Meeting our legal obligations | As required |
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
Your pilot application answers are used to decide whether you’re a good fit for the program and to help us understand what our users need. We may quote feedback you give us internally and in aggregated or anonymised form externally. We will not publish or attribute anything you tell us in a way that identifies you without asking you first.
6. Consent and marketing emails
We only send you marketing or newsletter emails where you have opted in. Consent checkboxes on our forms are never pre-selected.
Every marketing email includes a working unsubscribe link, and we act on unsubscribes promptly, consistent with the Australian Spam Act 2003 and the PDPA. You can also email us to opt out.
Operational emails about your account or the pilot program, for example a security notice or a scheduled maintenance message, are not marketing and will still be sent while you have an active account.
7. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate SSI, and only to the extent they need it. Our current providers include:
| Provider | Purpose | Where data is processed |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services | Platform hosting, data storage and processing | United States (Oregon) |
| Cloudflare | Content delivery, bot and spam protection | Global edge network |
| WPForms | Website form submissions | United States (Oregon) |
| Automattic (Akismet) | Form spam filtering | United States |
| Gmail | Newsletter and program emails | United States |
| Posthog | Website and product analytics | European Union |
We may also disclose personal information where we are required or authorised to do so by law, or where necessary to investigate suspected unlawful activity or to protect our legal rights.
If our business is ever sold or restructured, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We would notify you first.
8. Overseas disclosure
We are based in Singapore, our infrastructure providers operate in the United States and the European Union, and our content delivery network operates globally. This means your personal information will be transferred outside your country of residence.
Before disclosing personal information to an overseas recipient we take reasonable steps to ensure it will be handled to a standard comparable to the APPs and the PDPA, generally through contractual data protection terms with each provider.
9. Security
We protect personal information with measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, hashed passwords, access controls limiting who on our team can see what, multi-factor authentication on administrative systems, and regular patching.
We should be honest with you about the limits: no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we are a small team. We do not claim our systems are impenetrable.
If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the relevant regulator – the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, and the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) in Singapore – as required.
10. How long we keep it
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Newsletter subscribers | Until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days |
| Unsuccessful pilot applications | 12 months, then deleted, unless you asked to stay on the launch list |
| Successful pilot applications and feedback | For the duration of the program plus 24 months |
| Contact form enquiries | 24 months |
| Platform accounts and content | While your account is active; deleted within 30 days of account closure |
| Analytics and usage data | 24 months |
| Form submissions flagged as spam | 90 days, then deleted |
We may keep information longer where required by law or where needed to resolve a dispute.
11. Cookies
Essential cookies keep you logged in, maintain your session, protect forms from abuse, and remember your preferences. These are necessary for the platform to work and cannot be turned off.
Analytics cookies help us understand which features people use and where they get stuck.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, but essential cookies are required for the platform to function correctly.
12. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything inaccurate, incomplete or out of date
- Delete your account and associated personal information
- Withdraw consent to marketing at any time
- Withdraw from the pilot program at any time, with your feedback data deleted on request
Email support@signalsavvyinvestor.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for access requests. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
We can decline a request in limited circumstances permitted by law, for example where it would unreasonably affect another person’s privacy. If we do, we will explain why.
13. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at support@signalsavvyinvestor.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate to:
- Australia — Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992
- Singapore — Personal Data Protection Commission, pdpc.gov.sg
14. Children
SSI is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as SSI develops — particularly when we introduce paid subscriptions and a payment processor. The “last updated” date at the top will change. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will notify registered users by email before it takes effect.
This policy explains how we handle personal information. It is not a financial services disclosure. Signal Savvy Investor provides factual information and analytical tools only and does not provide financial product advice or recommendations — see our Terms of Use and disclaimer for details.
